Lesson Plans for September 7-11, 2015

Monday-

Holiday!

Tuesday-

Objective-  Creating Word documents with headers and footers

Activities:  Students will complete the Word Lesson 1 Practice & Apply exercises on p. 91-92 in book and their computer.  Save to flash drive and print as indicated.

Wednesday-

Objective:  Formatting documents with Themes and styles

Activities:  Students will take notes and  practice new skills on computer as we go through the Try-It’s on pp. 94, 95, 96, 97, & 98. Save practice work into practice folder for a participation grade.

Thursday-

Objective:  Formatting documents with Themes and styles

Activities:  Students will complete the Lesson 2 Practice and Apply on pp. 99-101 using book and computer. When complete, students are to save work to Word folder on flash drive and print as indicated.

Friday-

Activities:  Students will receive back graded papers and file in their notebooks.  They will then receive a copy of progress report at 3-week point.  If take home, get signed, and bring back by next Tuesday  will receive a 100 in gradebook.  Students  will then have time to finish up any unfinished work from week.

Lesson Plans for August 31-September 4, 2015

Monday-

Objective:  Students are to get familiar with Word vocabulary

Activities:  Students will use their book to define the Word vocabulary on pp. 81, 93, & 102.  They may type in Word or Google docs or write on notebook paper.  Save and print. For a daily grade.

Tuesday-

**Need to bring following supplies to class today:  3-ring notebook, package of dividers, flash drive**

Objective:  Notebook organization, flash drives

Activities:  Students will label the dividers for their class notebooks with the following:  Notes/Handouts, Daily Work, Chapter Reviews, Tests.   We will then file papers behind appropriate divider into their notebook.  We will then label flash drives with students names and hand in to Mrs. Ross.  Then, students who did not finish defining the vocabulary words from yesterday will need to do so.

Wednesday-

**If you did not bring your flash drive to class yesterday, you must have it today or see Mrs. Ross before school to discuss options.**

Objectives:  Using our book and practice files

Activities:  Students will transfer the datafiles for book onto their flash drives.  They will then create a new Word folder in which to save all of their work to be graded while in Word.

Thursday-

Objective:  Creating Word documents with headers and footers

Activities:  Students will take notes and label the Word Window, then practice new skills on the computer as we go through the Try-It’s on pp. 82,84-90 together in class.

Friday-

Objective:  Creating Word documents with headers and footers

Activities:  Students will complete the Word Lesson 1 Practice exercise on p. 91 in book on their computer.  Save to flash drive and print as indicated.

Monday-

About BIM I, getting to know you activities

Tuesday-

Discuss class procedures, acceptable use policies,  school supplies, etc.

Homework:  get receipt of class procedures signed by parents and have parent  subscribe to BIM I blog by Friday, August 28 (daily grade).  Also work on getting school supplies by Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2014.

Wednesday-

Test Google drive userids/passwords; introduce freetypinggame.net website; students to practice, then take a 5 minute timed writing; discuss results and goals

Thursday-

Review basics about blogs and e-portfolios

Friday-

Homework due:  receipt of class procedures signed by parents and subscribed to BIM I blog

Activity:  Review blog basics then have students go through the blog basics checklist.  Students to finish their About me page then make a new post about their first week of school.

Welcome to BIM I

Welcome to BIM I!  Business Information Management I (BIM I) is an introductory computer class that teaches the Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.  In addition to these programs, we will also cover some basic business skills such as: improving keyboarding, the role of information systems and information communication technology within an organization, making presentations, and initiating and designing a business project using a variety of multimedia outlets.

Recommended prerequisite:  Keyboarding

Supplies needed:

Three ring notebook

Package of dividers (5)

Earbuds or headphones

Red pen

Pencils and pens

Notebook paper or spiral

Flash drive (to be left in classroom)

Activities:  Test review sheets due.  Students will then participate in test review game.

Activities:  Students will learn about new topics and practice new information by following along with Lesson 14 Try-its on pp. 209-214.

Wednesday-

Activities:  Students will reinforce yesterday’s material by completing the Lesson 14 Practice and Apply exercises on pp. 215-217.  Students will save and print when indicated.

Thursday-

Topics:  Aligning Tables

Activities:  Students will learn about new topics and practice new information by following along with Lesson 15 Try-its  on pp. 219-222.

Friday-

Topics:  Aligning Tables

Activities:  Students will reinforce yesterday’s material by completing the Lesson 15 Practice and Apply exercises on pp. 23-225.  Save and print when complete.

Activities:  Go over correct answers to review.  We will also review parts and spacing of a personal business letter,  full block vs. modified block letters, what parts of letter are at tab in modified block letter, as well as how to set tabs in Word.

Topics:  copying a selection

Activities:  Students will practice new topics on computer as we go over them.  Students will then complete Lesson 13 Practice and Apply on pp. 205-207.  Save and print when complete.

Tuesday-

Topics:  Review  of chapter topics

Activities:  Students will complete the test review questions using their notes, book, and computer.  If don’t finish in class, for homework.  Due by the first of class tomorrow.

Wednesday-

Topics:  Review of chapter topics

Activities:  Students will participate in test review game.  Winning team will get 5 bonus points added to their test grade.  Test will be tomorrow over copying text, moving, text, spelling and grammar, thesaurus, etc.

Thursday-

Topics:  Test knowledge of chapter topics

Activities:  Test- covers Word Lessons 11-13 material

Friday-

Topics:  Test results; averages

Activities:  Go over test results, answers;  students will then be given their 9 week averages;  time will be given to make up any missing work if needed.

Monday-

Topics:  Students will become familiar with vocabulary used in next chapter.

Activities:  Students will define the vocabulary for next section from pp. 187, 197, and 203.  May write on a sheet of notebook paper or type on computer and print.  Due by the end of class.

Tuesday-

Topics:  Test results

Activities:  Discuss test results; corrections to test

Wednesday-

Topics:  Checking Spelling and Grammar

Activities:  Students will listen to new material and go through the Lesson 11 Try-its on the computer with Ms. Davis on pp. 188-193.

Thursday-

Topics:  Checking Spelling and Grammar

Activities:  Students will complete the Lesson 11 Practice and Apply on pp. 193-196 on their computer on their own.  Save completed work to flash drives and print when complete.

Friday-

Topics:  Moving a selection

Activities:  Students will listen to new material and practice new concepts on the computer.  Students will then complete the Lesson 12 Practice and Apply on pp. 200-202 on their computer on their own.  Students will save completed work to their flash drives and print each file when complete.  2 printouts total.
