Monday-

About BIM I, getting to know you activities

Tuesday-

Discuss class procedures, acceptable use policies, school supplies, etc.

Homework:  get receipt of class procedures signed by parents and have parent subscribe to BIM I blog by Friday, August 26 (daily grade). Also, work on getting school supplies by Tuesday, August 30.

Wednesday-

Test Google drive userids/passwords; introduce freetypinggame.net website; students to practice, then take a 5 minute timed writing; discuss results and goals

Thursday-

Review basics about blogs and e-portfolios

Friday-

Homework due:  receipt of class procedures signed by parents and subscribed to BIM I blog

Activity:  Review blog basics then have students go through the blog basics checklist.  Students to finish their About me page then make a new post about their first week of school.

Welcome to BIM I

Welcome to BIM I!  Business Information Management I (BIM I) is an introductory computer class that teaches the Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.  In addition to these programs, we will also cover some basic business skills such as: improving keyboarding, the role of information systems and information communication technology within an organization, making presentations, and initiating and designing a business project using a variety of multimedia outlets.

Recommended prerequisite:  Keyboarding

Supplies needed:

Three ring notebook

Package of dividers (5)

Earbuds or headphones

Red pen

Pencils and pens

Notebook paper or spiral

Flash drive (to be left in classroom)

Lesson Plans will be posted to this website weekly.  Remember, it is your responsibility to make up any missing assignments if you are absent for any reason.

Activities:  Students will take notes and participate as we go through the Try-Its on pp. 327-332 together.  Save into Practice folder on flash drive when complete.

Wednesday- 

Topics:  Creating Letters and Labels with mail Merge

Activities:  Students will reinforce yesterday’s learning by completing the Lesson 26 Practice & Apply  on pp. 332-335 on their own.  Save completed work to the Word folder on flash drive and print where indicated.

Thursday-Friday

Topics:  End of chapter review

Activities: Students will reinforce learning by completing the Word Chapter 3 Portfolio Builder on pp. 337-338 on their own.  Save completed work to the Word folder on flash drive and print where indicated.

Topics:  Review of Desktop Publishing in Word

Activities:  Students to participate in test review game.  Winning team will win 5 bonus points to go towards test.

Tuesday-

Topics:  Desktop Publishing in Word

Activities:  Test over Desktop Publishing in Word

Wednesday-

Makeup work/tests as needed

Thursday-

Topics:  Test results

Activities:  Students will receive back their test results/ time for corrections

Friday-

Topics:  Become familiar with new vocabulary

Activities:  Students to define vocabulary for next section on pp. 324-325.

Activities:  Students to take notes and practice new skills as we go through the Lesson 25 Try-Its together on pp. 317-320.  Will save work into Practice folder on flash drive.

Tuesday-

**Freshmen will be taking the STAAR English test.  All other students will need to bring something to work on**

Wednesday-

Topics:  Using Format Painter, highlights, symbols, and quick parts

Activities:  Students to reinforce learning by completing the Lesson 25 Practice and Apply on pp. 321-323 on their own on computer.  Save all work into Word folder on flash drive and print where indicated.

Thursday-

Topics:  Review topics over Desktop Publishing

Activities:  Students to complete the test review questions using their notes, book, and computer.  If don’t finish in class, for homework.  Due by the first of class Friday.

Friday-

Topics: Review topics over Desktop Publishing

Activities:  Will go over answers to yesterday’s test review questions.  Students will correct their own review.

Topics:  Students will become familiar with the vocabulary for Desktop Publishing in Word.

Activities:  Students will define the vocabulary  on pp. 302-303 (balance, column gutter, consistency, contrast, desktop publishing, newsletter-style columns, page layout) p. 310 (dropped capital & opacity); p. 316 (building block, quick part, symbol).  Put heading in header, number all words, and save as Desktop publishing vocab into Word folder on flash drive.

Topics:  Working with Newsletter Columns

Activities:  Students to take notes and practice new skills as we go through the Lesson 23 Try-Its together on pp. 303-306. Will save work into Practice folder on flash drive.
